7 Things To Avoid During Menstruation

Hi guys, so I thought I should share this with y'all because it is very important for us women, and I know by now, you already know that I share so many amazing and helpful info - so don't forget to visit my blog every day to learn, and also have fun with my stories.

Menstruation is one thing we women don't like because of the discomfort; but when it doesn't come, we also panic. There are certain things that add to our discomfort during menstruation, and that is what this article is about.

I personally experience diarrhea, bloating, and sometimes a loss of appetite on my period - even though most women I know have a large appetite on their periods.

I also have mood swings some days before my period; but once my period starts, I'm great. I do not have cramps; but I also know it's common, and most women experience that - and the pain can be excruciating sometimes.

Here are seven things you shouldn't do to ensure you ease yourself of any discomfort you have a control over:

1. ICE WATER

Do not drink ice water, or soda water. Cold water can worsen cramps (if you do have cramps during period).

2. SMOKING

According to American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), women who smoke experience more severe premenstrual symptoms, and a higher chance of their period cramps lasting for more than two days.

3. GOING FOR A BREAST EXAM

When you're menstruating, your hormone level fluctuates, and this can make it difficult to detect abnormalities in your breasts.

4. WAXING/SHAVING

Your vagina area is sensitive, and the pull of wax strips can hurt, and add to your discomfort; so why give yourself such trouble?

Shaving on the other hand can get messy, and if you give yourself a cut, you're at a risk of an infection.

5. DAIRY

Milk, cheese, cream and other dairy products can increase prostaglandins—the hormones that make your uterus contract during your period—and can make cramping worse. Try reducing these foods in your diet, or avoid them altogether when you're on your period.

6. ALCOHOL AND CAFFEINATED DRINKS

While alcohol may reduce cramps temporarily, it can increase estrogen levels - thus worsening period symptoms. Reduce your coffee intake as it increases blood pressure and heart rate leading to tension and anxiety attacks and in turn, worsening the PMS symptoms.

7. PINEAPPLES

Fruits like pineapples are considered a big no during periods. They can increase menstrual flow so if you must eat them, eat in moderation.

Ps, don't forget to maintain a healthy hygiene, and change your sanitary pads regularly.

Love you.. xx

9 Psychological Facts About Love

Let me start by saying that I'm not a love nor a relationship expert; but I've found these to be true. Growing up, I never questioned what love is because I had a lot of it from my family; and I'll simply tell anyone that love is genuine care, and selflessness.  I once read a Christian book that said that Agape Love  is the purest form of love, but I'm not defining what love is, or is not, today! Below, I'll be sharing some psychological facts about love especially for romantic relationships . Photo Credit : Unsplash

I Do Not Conform

This is just one of those topics I didn’t think deeply about; just some random thoughts on a random rainy cold night, put into writing! You ever scrolled through social media, and saw one of those posts that say “A woman is 'supposed to'….”? Oh my! How much I detest stuff like that.

How Living A Private Life Can Make You Stronger And Happier

Sighs...  We live in a generation where people feel like, or think that if you aren't posting nor sharing almost every moment of your life on social media, then nothing good is happening to you; and you're sad. I’ll be sharing this based on my personal experience; but let me explain what it means to live a private life. It means not sharing every personal detail about your life publicly. However, privacy is not the same as secrecy because people often confuse the two. Also, living a private life doesn't mean that you shouldn’t ask for help when you're in dire need of it. As an introvert, I keep most personal stuff to myself; but I used to trust easily until I learned the hard way. I learned that not everyone means well for you; and the scary part of it is that you may never know.  Photo Credit: Deposit photos
