How My Life Is Changing...
I think I’ve healed a lot of things within myself. You see, sometimes we don’t even realize we need healing. When you hear words like therapy or healing, you assume they’re only for people with obvious issues, but that’s not necessarily true.
As you become more self-aware and emotionally intelligent, you begin to realize that many of your behaviors stem from something deeper — your upbringing, the people you grew up around, the people you surround yourself with now, or the things you’ve become accustomed to. Then, you can choose to make intentional changes.
Here are some of the changes I’ve noticed in myself:
1. I no longer feel the need to prove my point
I used to want to prove my point, especially when I believed I was right. Now, I simply reply with “OK” or say nothing at all, particularly when I feel that someone is being disrespectful, trying to start an argument, or speaking to me in a condescending manner.
When you go low, I don’t go lower, I simply exit the circus.
You see, I rarely ignore people. In fact, I find it distasteful when others do it. However, I’ve learned to do so when someone crosses the line into disrespect.
I cannot tell you how much peace I’ve found since becoming this way. It has also made me stronger and more grounded.
2. I’ve learned to let people be who they are
I’ve stopped placing my happiness and self-worth in anyone else’s hands. Before, I h@ted it when people didn’t respond to my messages. I would double-text them as a reminder that they hadn’t replied. Now, when I notice that delayed responses have become a pattern, I simply dust my shoes and take my leave. And believe me when I say that I probably won’t text them again unless it’s absolutely necessary. If they eventually decide to reply, I also have the right to choose whether I respond or not.
Does that sound petty? Maybe. But to me, it sounds peaceful!
I think some people enjoy being chased because it boosts their ego. In my experience, genuinely busy people often find a way to respond, even if it’s brief. It’s usually those with plenty of time on their hands who try hardest to appear busy—or who use silence to make others question their worth. And what’s interesting is that when these same people need something from you, they suddenly have no problem texting repeatedly or calling multiple times, expecting an immediate response.
Of course, this is simply my personal observation.
3. I have a better memory
It’s not like my memory was ever poor; but it’s just now I do remember things way more than I do before. I can’t tell whether it’s because I’ve made reading a daily habit; even if it’s just a page or two, or if it's because of the omega-3 supplements I take. To be honest, I haven’t even replaced the last bottle since I finished it two months ago, so perhaps it’s the reading?
Ps, what I’m more proud of here is me reading every night before bed.

These are just a few of the small ways my life has changed — and continues to change. I can’t fully explain how much peace I have now, but I know this: life feels lighter when you stop trying to control people, stop seeking validation from others, and start investing in yourself instead. This is our gentle reminder for the week.
Tell me your favorite about this in the comments.
Xo, Moxie!
Have you read The Morning Routine That Tripled My Productivity

As usual moxie, I’m here for the quotes so my favorite part is when you low I don’t go lower, I exit the circus
ReplyDeleteHey new reader here. Your post means a lot to me. it’s just something I can relate to that I now have a second thought and idea on how to deal with it moving forward. Thanks a bunch
ReplyDeleteI was going to say it’s okay to cut people some slack until I read you apply that when it’s a pattern and I concurred
ReplyDeleteNew reader here. This felt like reading a page from a friend’s journal. Very relatable and refreshing. Wishing you continued growth and peace on your journey ❤️
ReplyDeleteI used to take delayed responses personally too. Now people that do it don’t even matter to me. I love that I can relate to this haha
ReplyDeleteThis is a real good way to look at it because people like that are simply passing a message across saying you’re not a priority to them so making them not matter too is giving yourself peace. I know people like this and they are the biggest ass kissers to others
DeleteI came here as soon as it hit my mail. “Life feels lighter when you stop trying to control people, stop seeking validation from others, and start investing in yourself instead”. 🙌🏾
ReplyDeleteI’ve been trying to read more consistently too, and I swear it’s helping my focus and memory. You’re onto something there!

ReplyDeleteMoxie I can’t explain it but the way you write gives me joy. In your other post you said you write for yourself but you need to know that your posts are thought provoking and forces self evaluation honestly
ReplyDeleteYou just hit the nail on the head. My thoughts exactly
DeleteWhat an insightful writer. I went for therapy before I had my son because I didn’t want any unhealed part of me to affect how he grows up. When I told a couple of friends and family members, I was shocked to find out people think therapy is for people with mental issues. I’m just going to share this straightaway
